Darwin Barney has been a winner throughout his baseball career.  He led his high school team to their first ever state championship in 2002 and later led his Oregon State Beavers to back-to-back National Championships in 2006 and 2007.  After the 2007 season, Barwin was drafted by the Cubs in the 4th Round of the MLB Amateur Draft.  He reported to Class-A Peoria and gradually climbed up the Cubs Minor League chain.  His best MiLB season came in 2009 with Double-A Tennessee, posting a .317/.368/.401 line.  Barney made his Major League debut on August 12, 2010, and won the starting 2nd baseman job in Spring Training of the following year.  During his first full season in 2011, Barney hit at a .276/.313/.353/.666 mark with two homers and 43 RBI.  Long-term, he might be best suited as a utility man, but either way, Barney gave the Cubs a nice season in 2011 and remains a coach's dream with his work ethic and winning past.
