Steve Clevenger was drafted as a catcher in 2006 by the Cubs. After moving to 1st base for awhile, he has returned to the catching position and is part of the Cubs catcher-depth contingent. In 120 games split between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, the left-handed hitting catcher recorded a .319/.383/.475/.857 line with eight homers and 54 RBI. He was named to the Southern League All-Star team. The Cubs called up Clevenger September 19, 2011 after the Smokies were eliminated in the SL Championship Series. He had one hit, a double, in four big league at-bats. Before the 2012 season, miCubs listed him as the 32nd best prospect in the Cubs chain.
